Committee

The Waimairi Toy Library operates as an incorporated society, dedicated to serving our community as a not-for-profit organization. While our members generously contribute their time and efforts during our Thursday and Saturday sessions, the core functioning of our library relies on the invaluable contributions of dedicated volunteers. These committed individuals devote their time to manage and oversee various aspects of our library’s operation.

The responsibilities of our volunteers encompass a wide range of tasks, including toy procurement and packaging, addressing missing or damaged toy components, maintaining our computer software and databases, seeking out grants and sponsorships, and crafting our duty schedules. Alongside our volunteers, we are fortunate to have a paid Toy Librarian who takes on the primary responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our library sessions.

In addition to their roles as committee members, our dedicated volunteers are also active library users, just like any other regular member. They engage in the library’s services and resources and can often be found supervising one of our Thursday or Saturday sessions when it is their turn for duty. We encourage all our members to familiarize themselves with the names and stories of these committed individuals to gain a deeper understanding of what it entails to be an integral part of our community toy library.

The committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month. Even if you are not on the committee you are welcome to attend and learn more about how the library runs. Our annual general meeting (AGM) is held in March each year and this is when committee members are elected and confirm their individual responsibilities within the committee.
